For as long as I can remember, I have been creating. From scrapbooking, making gifts for family to computer graphics. ALL things crafty? Count me in. I’ve been teaching just as long. Memories of playing school with my younger brothers come to mind. When I had my own children, there was no difference. I homeschooled my girls for many years.
Spending that time with them, watching them grow and learn with my own eyes is a blessing I’ll cherish. It was also a time where I had to learn to balance “mom” life and “me” life. The main way I taught was through art. Crafting. Using papers, stickers, paint and glue. It was the most effective way to teach. My oldest, was reading and writing sentences at 4. My youngest was reading her own bedtime stories at 3. And even after learning they were able to be creative on their own. They were open to creating for fun and we had something to do together.
This gave me time to enjoy my tea hot, blow dry my hair, switch laundry or eat lunch. Without the guilt of giving them tablets and screens in order to do it.
I cannot think of my life without teaching and creating in some way. They are apart of my calling. I want to share with you how to bring art and creativity into the world of teaching your children, spending time with them and giving them moments to become little humans. XO, Netra, is the place where Creativity, becomes a peace of mind.
